My stay at Hoshino Resorts Tomamu The Tower was a mixed bag. The ski-in-ski-out setup made it easy to hit the slopes, but the dining options were frustratingly limited. The rooms were spacious with great views, though the WiFi was painfully slow. Overall, while I appreciated the experience, I don’t think I’ll rush back.

Rooms
7.0
The room I had was spacious and offered stunning views of the ski slopes. However, I found the storage for clothes lacking.
Service
6.0
The check-in process was quick and efficient, and I appreciated the front desk staff. The Valet service was a little chaotic at times.
Location
7.0
The resort is quite isolated, with no nearby town or other attractions. However, the ski-in-ski-out access was a major plus.
Dining
5.0
The variety of restaurants was decent, but I felt so limited with options that I ended up settling for the same places too often. I didn't try the crab buffet because the lines were crazy!
Facilities
5.0
The facilities like the onsen and pool were a bit disappointing for me; the onsen was too chlorinated for my liking, and I expected more from the pool. The convenience store also lacked variety.

5.6/10

My stay at Hoshino Resorts Tomamu The Tower was quite a mix of experiences. While I loved the diverse dining options and the beautiful views from my room, I found the room's temperature control to be lacking, which impacted my comfort. Overall, it's a massive resort with great facilities, though some areas could use improvement.

Rooms
6.0
I stayed in a Standard Four Room located in Tower 1. The space was open-plan and clean, ideal for families or close friends. However, temperature control was poor, making it uncomfortably hot and stifling at times.
Service
5.0
The service was adequate, but I felt a lack of communication from staff, especially when I needed help. While some staff members spoke decent English, urgency in addressing issues felt lacking.
Location
7.0
The resort's location is beautiful and close to attractions like the Unkai Terrace, but reaching those places requires taking a free shuttle, which can be a bit inconvenient. Still, it’s a great place to relax away from the city buzz.
Dining
9.0
There were over ten dining options available, from Japanese to Italian cuisine, making it hard to choose what to eat! I particularly enjoyed the variety, as the hotel's remote setting meant I couldn't easily venture into town.
Facilities
8.0
Amenities like the onsen and swimming pool added great value to my stay. However, accessing the onsen involved a shuttle bus, which was slightly inconvenient. Overall, the facilities were impressive and well-maintained.

5.8/10

I enjoyed my stay at Hoshino Resorts Tomamu, despite a few hiccups. The facilities and activities kept me entertained, although I faced some issues with room cleanliness. The dining options were fantastic, particularly the breakfast buffet, which was a highlight.

Rooms
6.0
The family triple room was spacious and comfortable, but I had a disappointing experience with room cleanliness on one stay. I appreciated the separate living area and the humidifier provided, which was essential during the winter nights.
Service
7.0
The staff members were eager to help and pleasant, though I felt they were overwhelmed during peak times which impacted responsiveness.
Location
8.0
The resort is beautifully situated with a stunning view from my room. There are plenty of outdoor activities that can keep you busy even in less than ideal weather.
Dining
9.0
Dining was a highlight of my trip, particularly the buffet which offered fresh seafood and good bread. The crab and beef teppanyaki were exceptionally good.
Facilities
8.0
The variety of facilities available, like the open-air baths and ice village, made my stay enjoyable. I also loved the convenience of laundry services and free shuttle trips.

7.4/10

My stay at Hoshino Resorts Tomamu The Tower had some highlights and low points. The 'Standard Four' room was spacious and clean, perfect for family or friends, but the lack of electronic keys and inconsistent internet was frustrating. The location is great for heading to Unkai Terrace, though my experience was marred by the weather preventing my visit to the famous sea of clouds.

Rooms
8.0
The 'Standard Four' room had four beds and was clean, but showed signs of aging. The absence of electronic keying made accessing the elevator less convenient.
Service
6.0
The staff were friendly, but I found check-in quite slow, taking over an hour. Still, their efforts to communicate in English were appreciated.
Location
7.0
The hotel is all about convenience for visiting Unkai Terrace. However, the weather can really affect your plans, making luck an essential factor for enjoying the view.
Dining
5.0
Dining options are plentiful but can feel average in both presentation and taste. I was hoping for something more excellent based on my expectations.
Facilities
7.0
The amenities offered were impressive, from an indoor wave pool to shuttle services. However, the outdoor hot bath and shuttle buses didn’t quite meet my expectations due to maintenance and odor issues.

7.4/10

My stay at Hoshino Resorts Tomamu The Tower was nice, but not without its faults. While the atmosphere and space in the room were decent, I found several aspects disappointing, particularly the overall service and limited dining options. The chilly walkways connecting the complexes and inadequate convenience facilities were also frustrating. Overall, it was a mixed experience, and I wouldn't prioritize returning given the alternatives available.

Rooms
5.0
I found the rooms quite spacious, but the furniture desperately needs refurbishment. The bed was uncomfortable, reminiscent of off-highway motels, which made it hard to get a good night's sleep.
Service
5.0
Service was notably lacking, especially during our emergency situation. Despite the staff's good intentions, the reliance on a blanket for our rescue was alarming. I left feeling unsupported by management, with no empathy or compensation offered after our distressing experience.
Location
5.0
The location is quite isolated, with the resort complex spread over a vast area. Although the setting is beautiful, the freezing temperatures made navigating between the different buildings a chore, especially when needing to dress warmly just to grab a meal.
Dining
5.0
Dining options were limited and overpriced, with not enough variety or convenience. I struggled to find decent snacks, and the overall meal experience left much to be desired, especially given the long waits for breakfast at certain restaurants.
Facilities
5.0
The amenities, like the onsen and pool, left me feeling disappointed. They mostly felt inadequate compared to other places I've visited, with a frustratingly slow WiFi service complicating my stay further.
